Scam Warning: Rental property and Amazon scams
Halton Trading Standards has been made aware of fake landlords offering properties for rental. Claiming that their properties cannot be viewed owing to the pandemic, these ‘landlords’ ask for an advance payment to secure it. In reality, these properties do not exist.
Furthermore, Amazon customers have been receiving e-mails inviting them to apply for the Amazon Grant Relief Fund. The emails state Amazon customers will receive £1,000. The recipient is asked to click on a link, which is designed to steal their login and personal details.

If you or somebody you know has been caught out by a scam or fraud please contact one of our specialist officers, Linda or Sue on 0151 511 8785 or 0151 511 8775, who are already working with people in Halton who have lost thousands of pounds to scams.
If you need advice on anything else please contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline  or 0808 223 1133
