Whitby Area Burglary information request

Whitby Area - Burglaries overnight 11th into 12th July
During the overnight period of Thursday 11th into Friday 12th July three properties were targeted for burglary/theft within the Whitby Ward.

Underwood Drive - Between the hours of 11pm and 8.30am -

Garage door attacked in an unsuccessful attempt to gain entry, leaving door damaged. - IML 453647

Woodland Road - Between the hours of 9.30pm and 5.45am -

Garden accessed and shed door removed. Blue mountain bike taken and another bike left at property. - IML 453572

Fern Road - Between the hours of 10pm and 5am -

Garage door forced open causing damage to the door. Garage searched a silver Marin Larkspur City bike taken.
*Blue bike from Woodland Road recovered at address. - IML 453580

 Many burglars are opportunists, so take the appropriate steps in your home to help prevent you becoming a victim of crime.

- Use automatic timers to switch on lights when you are out.
- Fit outdoor lights with  movement sensors.
- Keep valuables out of sight of windows.
- Close and lock all doors and windows when you go out .
- Keep keys out of sight.
- Lock all side and rear gates.
- Have an alarm fitted and make sure it is working correctly.
