News Bulletin

Runcorn Local Policing Unit, Halton Castle ward Aug 2018

Hi Folks!

There have been some reports of people trying doors of properties in the area. As I stressed in last month’s Newsletter we can all take simple steps to help prevent becoming a victim of opportunist thieves.

  1. Keep your doors locked even when you are in the property - loud TV’s can often mask the sound of doors opening.
  2. Don’t leave your keys in your door.
  3. Don’t leave your keys on tables/hooks by your front door in easy reach of hook ‘n’ cane thieves.

As mentioned above, opportunist thieves will not only target our homes but they can target our vehicles, so do not leave spare keys to your house or another vehicle in your car.  I am constantly amazed when speaking to people to learn they don’t even lock their cars of a night.

NB: If your car is stolen due to it being unlocked/keys in vehicle or if you leave your property insecure you risk your insurance becoming null and void.

Speaking of securing your vehicle,   motorbikes are always a target for thieves so don’t skimp on bike security….   A good chain bolted to the floor and not leaving your bike in full view of everyone passing is always a good idea - out of sight out of mind!  CCTV cameras and signage which are focused on your vehicle can be another good deterrent.

Drugs information can be passed via email below, verbally to myself or other officers.

Tru-Cam enforcement will be conducted on the ward once a week and we have a set time of 1 hour when enforcing.

Please   drive responsibly to avoid receiving penalties

We are experiencing a high volume of motorbikes ‘razzing’ along the bus lanes and in and around the ward area – this is currently a priority for Runcorn Police and we are working hard to eradicate this type of anti - social behavior. It will not be tolerated in our community.

Personally, I have witnessed some extremely dangerous riding which is endangering members of our community so please help us to get these people of our roads.  You can email myself on the below email, send your dashcam footage anything which will assist us.

I have recently issued a section 59 notice to a local male but I still as much information as possible even if it may seem like nothing.

Please call 101 if you have any information regarding these bikes or their owners.

On Friday 3rd August –  Phoenix Park Experience (PPX) took place and was deemed a great success!!

The event is aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour and breaking down barriers between local officers and young people. Lots families and children headed down to Phoenix Park to enjoy a range of free activities to help keep youngsters entertained over the summer holidays.

Approximately 3000 people attended and were able to enjoy lots of new activities provided this year incl a climbing wall and an inflatable assault course making it bigger and better for people to get involved and try something new.

Other activities the local community could experience were the attendance of representatives from Rampworx – the largest skate park in the UK, as well as Halton Spartans, Widnes Vikings and  Runcorn ABC Boxing Club .  The Army also came along and brought 2 large vehicles which you climb aboard and experience!

PC Suzi Williams, who organised the event, said: “It was great to be able to run such a successful event for another year.  With schools breaking up for the summer holidays, lots of children have so much time to spare and this was a perfect opportunity for parents to keep them entertained.”

“PPX also enables us to engage with youngsters to help deter any anti-social behaviour within the local community and to build a positive relationship between young people and officers. It was also an opportunity to meet local officers and police community support officers to discuss any issues and concerns the local community may have.”

The activities at PPX are free of charge and open to children of all ages and abilities
