News Bulletin

Runcorn Local Policing Unit,
Halton Castle ward

Dear all,

JUNE has drawn to an end and your latest newsletter is here.

News in the Halton Castle Ward Area

We have had some issues with ASB in the Castlefields Area this month namely youths throwing stones at properties located on Muncaster Court.  I have been showing the area extra attention during my tour of duty and reassurance and advice has been giving to the residents who have been affected by this.  Local housing providers are aware and take any breach of tenancy agreement by occupants or their children very seriously….So please ask yourselves what is your child doing when you’re not about  as their behaviour could cost you your home.

Please call 101 if you experience any issues with ASB you don’t have to put up with it

Throughout June there have been number of  incidents of burglary on the Astmoor Estate. Owners of the Units that have been affected by this have been given DNA kits to mark their property. The operation SHIELD  kits were previously given out a couple of years ago when we did a crime prevention event at the location but unfortunately the affected unit has a new tenant so  they had not received there DNA kit… but he’s all covered now .

Astmoor  has also fallen foul of reports of number plates being stolen.   Please be vigilant if you park in this area making sure it’s well lite.  For extra peace of mind you can buy tamper proof number plate fixings on the internet which are very effective?  Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity including time, dates and locations to Police on 101 in order to help us build an intelligence picture to prevent further offences occurring.

Mountain Bikes have been stolen from sheds on Cornbrook Avenue in Castlefields, please keep an eye out for our bike marking events were we will mark your bike for free.    You can also register property on free of charge; fitting Shed alarms are a good deterrent to keep your property safe also. .

This month there has an incident in which a young male riding a cycle was lucky to not have been fatally injured after he was in a collision with a bus on the bus lane at Castlefields.  I can’t stress how dangerous it is for pedestrians/cyclists to be using the bus lanes as a means of getting from A to B.                           The NO PEDESTRIAN signs are there for your information and safety PLEASE don’t risk your life, if you have children please make sure they know how dangerous it is and to refrain from doing this.

We have received reports of persons claiming to be deaf knocking on people’s doors trying to sell art work, please don’t feel pressured into buying anything from these people and if you have elderly neighbours please keep an eye on them calling us on 101 if your suspicious in anyway .

Officers have been using their stop and search powers over the last month to good effect   this has resulted in a quantity of controlled substances and weapons have been found. The Drug dog was also involved in license checks on the area and arrests were made.

If you have any information you can talk to your local officer in the strictest confidence or call Crimestopper on   0800 555111
