Cold callers - possibly scamming

Alert message sent 22/05/2018 15:30:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Good Afternoon,
Within the last week we have two addresses in the village where males have called asking if the occupants had any tools they needed sharpening.  Both of the victims were elderly and no other occupants nearby were visited at the time they visited the chosen two residents. One of the residents handed over an amount of money. The two persons visiting the addresses did not appear to be the same people. We would ask that you be aware of such visitors and report any such incidents to us on 101 so we can check these people out. We would wonder why they appeared to target the elderly occupants though we suspect we know the answer to that as you probably do too.

Please look out for your neighbours as well and if they are vulnerable by age, disability or anything else please be doubly vigilant and advise them of such visitors.

Feel free to contact me via email or 101 to discuss policing matters but DO NOT REPORT INCIDENTS to me which is still 101 for routine or 999 for emergencies
