Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

Hi,

In case you have missed this, the below is an appeal sent out locally:

Appeal following Weaverham robbery

Officers from Northwich CID are appealing for information from the public following a robbery in Weaverham.

Sometime between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Sunday 25 March the victim, a 24-year-old local man, was walking in the alleyway between Well Lane and Farm Road in Weaverham when he was approached and attacked from behind by two suspects. During the incident the victim has his wallet stolen.

Both of the suspects are described as men who were wearing dark hooded tops.

Following the incident the victim was taken to Leighton Hospital; he has since been released and is now recovering at home.

Detective Constable Ryan Ogden said: “The victim in this case has been left shaken as a result of his ordeal and we are committed to doing all that we can to trace the people responsible.

“Enquiries are currently ongoing and as part of the investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who believes that they have any information which could assist our investigation.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number IML 19403. Information can also be passed anonymously, Via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.

An additional incident of two males seen acting suspiciously in someone’s front garden was reported the following night at approximately 20:30 in the area surrounding Walnut Avenue. Both were reported as wearing dark clothing and with caps. There is nothing to link the two incidents but it is highly coincidental. Please just be aware of this and as always be vigilant. Extra patrolling will take place in the area.

Locally, PCSO Devey and PC Murgatroyd continue to enforce the speed limit by prosecuting motorists caught going over the speed limit in and around the area.

A small number of youths at Sandiway Library who were causing general anti social behaviour been identified. Parents have been informed about their conduct and the school which they attend have also supported the police in taking action against them.

PCSO Devey has been working closely with Weaverham High School, local youth workers and other partnership agencies in helping to identify those children with complex needs who need extra support. Although the children do present challenging behaviour, there is often a far more complicated root cause behind the issues that usually stem from home life. By intervention, investment of time and dedication some are able to avoid carrying on a downward spiral that leads to a criminal life style.

We are also working relentlessly to try and educate motorists about the issues of parking, especially around the start and end of school. PCSO Devey is nearly always present outside one of the schools either in the morning or afternoon to address this issue.

As always if you need to report anything it’s 999 in an emergency or 101 if not. Please try and be patient if calling 101. A new computer system is being used and our call takers are still getting use to the new technology which may cause a slight delay in the first instance.

I hope you enjoy the Easter break and up-coming bank holidays.

Regards

PC 5126 Matt Hood
