It has been a busy October for the beat team here at Knutsford, Halloween usually being an evening in which we receive high demand for our services. This year we have gone into all local shops to chat about selling eggs and flour to youths, with shops displaying Cheshire police posters to highlight the fact. Part of the education brings us into schools to talk about Halloween and educating children to have fun but to respect your neighbours. This all forms part of a force wide initiative named Operation Treacle which is planned well in advance to ensure we cover all bases. In the lead to Halloween we did experience a spate of properties being egged and as a result stepped up patrols in these areas and talking to any youths who may have been involved. Halloween evening itself proved to be a successful with the ‘Pumpkin path’ in town well attended and no incidents of note throughout Knutsford in terms of anti-social behaviour.
On the drugs side in Knutsford we are continuing to monitor and build a picture of those dealing drugs in the area. We have conducted several successful stop and searches on individuals and vehicles where drugs have been found. We have also conducted several warrants in the Knutsford area that have disrupted the supply of drugs in the area. If you have any information on drugs in Knutsford please ring us on 101 or alternately you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
A big concern for residents in the Middle Walk area was motorbikes being ridden in an anti-social manner. One male had been stopped and officers are currently dealing with him and taking the appropriate action. Please remember to report any incidents of any vehicles being driven in an anti-social manner, we can take positive action against the drivers.
Op Legionnaire involves drivers speeding, driving with no seat belt or insurance and those who choose to use a mobile phone is still ongoing. Lots of positive stops and tickets issued where necessary, if you believe a particular area needs some attention regarding the above please do drop us a line.
We regularly meet with the housing associations in the area and have had discussions with ‘Great Places ‘ and ‘Peaks and Plains’ about residents who are causing issues. This joint partnership working has proved beneficial in the past and our officers are working on cases with our partners to resolve issues. Remember do not suffer in silence when it comes to anti-social behavior, your own housing association or ourselves need to know.
On the community side we have hosted a Scout group on a station visit as well as attending schools and pre-schools to give talks. We have also been to Radbroke Hall and attended an event to promote the work we do. For the future we will be looking at making Knutsford a ‘dementia friendly’ town, this will be done by promoting the ‘Herbet Protocol’ which encourages people who look after people with dementia to sign up with ourselves so we have a faster response when someone goes missing as we will already have the details registered. If you would like to know more, pop into the station for more information. November will see a possible rural meeting being set-up and as well attendance at Remembrance parades amongst other ongoing operations and projects.
