Protecting your Vehicles

Alert message sent 03/02/2017 14:09:00

Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

We have had a few incidents recently across Widnes where residential properties have been broken into, car keys taken and vehicles stolen.
Due to this I am just reminding residents in my areas to ensure that car keys are taken with you when you go to bed. Do not leave them near your front door, as a well known way of stealing cars is by "hook and cane".
Thieves have been known to use an instrument usually a stick with a hook on the end. This enables them to place the stick through a letterbox and hook any car keys which have been left on the side near the door or hanging up on key hooks.
Always leave them out of sight. Always lock your vehicle and don't leave valuables on show.
Consider extra security features such as security lighting or CCTV (even dummy cameras can be a deterrent).
