On Saturday 11th June Poynton was hit by flash flooding. Officers were joined by members of Cheshire Fire in assisting with the safety of our residents. Due to the flooding a number of roads were closed in the area. Luckily due to the quick response of all our emergency services there were no reported casualties, although a number of homes and businesses were damaged by flood water. Unfortunately Party in The Park, due to be held that day, was cancelled by the event organisers on safety grounds.

At around 8am on Monday 27th June we received reports of a house fire on Burton Drive. On arrival the elderly occupant had been helped from his property by passing neighbours. The elderly male was woken up by a smoke alarm and finding his property filled with smoke managed to escape unharmed. A big thank you to the residents who assisted with helping the male into a neighbouring property away from any harm. Officers assisted with road closures in the area and a joint investigation between police and Cheshire Fire is due to be carried out as to how the fire started. At this stage there are no suspicious circumstances.
