This alert is for those who run businesses or work for a company and regularly answer the phone.  There is currently a phone call scam whereby a convincing salesperson will ring businesses claiming to be from Cheshire community policing and stating that they recognise there is a rise in crime in town centres fuelled by youths on drugs.  To combat this, the salesperson may state that the police are encouraging the youths to use their sports and social clubs.  To get the message across they are producing 17000 brochures which will be available in local libraries and asking businesses to advertise.
The salesperson will be happy to take payment for the advertisement however it is highly unlikely that a brochure will be produced. This is a scam and nothing to do with Cheshire Police.
Incidents like these can be reported to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or via
